The Key To A Great Wedding Photographer

Everyone considers a great wedding photographer based on pictures. And don’t get me wrong, pictures are important. They are a great indicator of both equipment and skill. And if you look at our portfolio you will see great pictures in spades.

But I personally don’t believe that pictures tell you 20% of the story. What you really want from yrou photographer goes far beyond just pictures.

For example I shot a wedding on Friday (yes last Friday). A sampling of the pictures are below. If I have to blow my own horn we got some fantastic pictures. The proof is in the pudding. And I’ve shoot over 500 weddings at this point I have the equipment and experience to be 100% certain of getting a fantastic end product. But I derive my satisfaction and sense of a job well done from a different source.

Friday I took a tally. There were 87 people at the wedding. We had 14 people come to us and thank us for our work and tell us how wonderful a job that we’d done. These people hadn’t seen a single picture from us but were completely impressed with our work.

THATS the measure of a great wedding photographer, that you create an excellent experience to go along with your stunning photography. Your photographer should be able to lift worries off your shoulders. You shouldn’t be thinking of things like how are we going to do portraits, will I get the right light, how do I pose. The photographer should be gracious and able to connect and support you on the most special and probably stressful day of your life. They should make you smile and maybe even laugh.

Caring for my clients is the highest obligation I have professionally.
