Alright before I dive into it let me explain why I’m putting it together. Every month we publish a newsletter that goes to our prospective couples. We try to keep each newsletter focused on a single theme, for example January’s was about Engagement Sessions, February’s was How To Chose A Wedding Photographer, and so on and so forth. June’s newsletter is Help With Your Getting Ready Photos.

So we wrote a blog on How to Chose a Getting Ready Space. and we’ve published one on Fine Things To Take To Your Getting Ready Room. But we need three articles to make it work so I’m adding a third blog having to do with getting ready, How To Add A Boudoir Session To Your Getting Ready Photos in three easy steps. And then we have a full newsletter!

On top of that more and more brides are asking for this service. In fact I’ve had three ask this week!

Now you may want have questions about what is a boudoir session and how to do it, well come back next week and we’ll have a lady describing her very first boudoir session to you. And with that out of the way, let’s get to it.

Speak To Your Photographer

The first thing you need to do is let your photographer know you are interested in a boudoir session. I can tell you we do them, and it’s no big deal for us but if we aren’t your photographer then they may have different rules about such things.

You don’t just want to let them you want to do this, you want to talk to them about the exact kind of pictures you want to take, how you’d want to the session to go, what you’ll bring, what you want them to bring. Boudoir is a great experience but it’s a personal one. Have the conversation so you can get the most out of your session.

You’ll also need to book some extra time with your photographer and start your day a little earlier. You can squeeze by with two extra hours but three is perfect.

Secure Your Space

Luckily when you reserve a getting ready space you typically have it for the entire day so there isn’t a lot to this task. But typically you have extra people in the space and if you are considering a boudoir session you probably won’t get the result you want with two of you favorite aunts, your makeup artist, hairdresser and Grammy Ann watching over you. You’ll want some privacy to pull this off. Thats the other bonus of the extra time, you can check in at say 12 but tell people to arrive at 2:30.

Enjoy Yourself!

The key to a great boudoir session is just be free. You are most likely taking these photos for someone who worships you. You are going to be beautiful and effortless and free. As long as you allow yourself to be. For bonus points order a Wedding Memories book but use it instead to present your beloved with a wonderful surprise.
