Help Me Help You
Things Your Photographer Wishes You Knew
Hi guys just wanted to check in and give you five things you can do to make your wedding day go exactly the way you want it to.
Have A Plan And Share It Early
This one seems like a no brainer but there are good and bad wedding schedules. If your schedule looks something like this:
12:00 do something
12:07 do the next thing
12:11 do the third thing
1216 do one more thing
Well you are bound to run into to trouble. This schedule is so exact that it’s bound to run into issues. Its hard to get 5 people, let alone 50 to operate this way.
We work with our wedding clients to be sure that the schedule is more of an idea than a militarily exact plan, and we try to make sure there are at least 10 minutes of every hour unaccounted for. This leaves room to explore things you are enjoying plus when something runs late as it inevitably does you’ve got some recovery time built into the schedule. It also makes sure that when your great aunt wants to talk or your niece needs a cuddle you can accommodate that. The key to a great wedding is the people who are getting married have a great day and a looser schedule allows that.
For bonus points share your schedule with yoru wedding vendors as soon as you have it so every one is on the same page. And for double bonus points don’t schedule your photographer and videographer time in the same block. Thise mediums have different needs and the day will go smoother when each professional has the time they need scheduled separately to do their respective jobs.
Consult with your professionals
I can certainly tell you how much time the videographer needs, but its what I THINK he needs. Let your professionals examine the schedule so they know how best to support you on your wedding day. They can also give you important feedback on how things can run their smoothest.
Put the candle/sand jar/whatever between yourselves and the audience
If you are lighting a candle, tying a robe, whatever it is put that object between you and the audience. If you stand between the audience and the object the only pictures you will get of that event will be pictures of your backs.
Find A Place To Hide
You should make sure your venue has some nooks and crannies for you two to get a moment and catch your breath. I frequently suggest my couples find some time for themselves. It keeps you fresh and you get a little joy to boot.
Let Your Partners Do The Work
Assign all the tasks you can to your professionals and attendants. The only things you should in charge of on your wedding day are showing up, getting dressed, saying I Do and having a great time. You should plan to be in charge of absolutely nothing else.
Thats it, a simple straight forward and easy blog post, for once. Reach out to schedule a complimentary consultation to see if we are the wedding partner you need on your big day.
