Helen Boudoir, Round 2
Helen Does Another Boudoir, Sort Of
I try to get in at least two boudoir posts on the blog every year. One is always around Valentine's day (seems like the natural time to do something like that) and one is just randomly whenever I can fit it in. Typically these always involve Helen as we'd never use a client's boudoir pictures without permission.
I write these posts to sell our business as we do some of this kind of work for clients but also to promote healthy body image for women. Everybody is beautiful in their own way and I like capturing that and promoting that. Lastly I do them because as an artist you have to exercise different creative muscles. Taking the same pictures over and over lets those muscles atrophy and your development as an artist will stagnate. Plus filling the site with lots of different pictures shows you, the potential client, that we can take all different kinds of pictures and that let's you imagine the different kinds of pictures we can take with you.
Something that these photos make pretty obvious is that Helen is an astounding beautiful woman but something thats not so obvious is this isn't your typical boudoir picture. Helen is fully dressed in these pictures. She's got on some shorts that we just rolled up a bit, one of my shirts and some fancy heels. I really wanted to communicate that boudoir is more about what you feel than it is about what you reveal.
Also this isn’t our bedroom, it’s our backyard.
Why is that important? Why would we do that? Well sometimes we have women contact us that want boudoir pictures from a photographer who's done sexy and tasteful photos for publications like Playboy and Sports Illustrated (thats me by the way) but they don't quite feel adventurous enough to get in a state of undress with said photographer. Boudoir photography isn't about what you are showing off, it's about your attitude and confidence! That, more than any physical attribute, makes you sexy.
So we took a fully dressed Helen, a piece of lawn furniture, a table, her favorite Tiffany lamp and viola! We just wanted to show that it's possible to make incredibly sexy pictures and never even have to take your shoes off. There you have it. A short, concise, to the point blog post.
